MIA’S / Missing In Action

Calling a group of people the ‘best and brightest’ has become an overworked clich√©, but many of the people on this page really were the best and brightest at what they did — in music, film, TV and sports.

That’s one of the things they had in common. Another is that each of the stars below flared out early, leaving a hole in the corner of the sky that each occupied, and in millions of hearts.

We’re not making light of their passing, and we certainly don’t mean to imply that they let us down more than they let down themselves, their families, and friends.

We just want to remind all the little stars out there who are growing into the Big Stars of the future that the choices we make today can be terribly important, and little mistakes can cancel out massive gifts and spectacular talents.
